Introduction The Samsung PN42B450 42 Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is a popular plasma TV that has been generating a lot buzz among the major online retailers lately; therefore, I thought I would sucker one of them into sending me one to do a drive-by shooting review on. They did; so, I am. Read on to get the low-down on this television.
The Good If you follow my reviews, then you know that I am always impressed with the way Samsung maximizes the potential of 720p resolution technology; and how they dont integrate 1080p simply to make their televisions more expensive. That being said, the Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is another excellent example of how viable 720p really still is. In fact, I have yet to see another 42 inch plasma TV that that has better picture quality than this one. I have stated time and again that 1080p technology is virtually useless in TVs smaller than 50 inches, and I stand by that statement.
Samsung PN42B450 really impressed me with its amazing picture quality, richness and vibrant colors. In fact the resolution and contrast are amazing; if you love watching hi-fi action flicks or gaming, then you are surely going to love this as there are no image blurring or ghosting whatsoever. Like any other plasma TVs, there is perfect display of white, black and gray shades.
Whatever your peripheral device requirement is, the TV comes with ports for proper connectivity. There is PC and USB port that allows direct viewing of videos and images from your PC. Even the quality of sound is immaculate and the design and durability of the remote control is perfect. The remote is quick to respond to recognize and configure almost any outer peripheral.
The bad It is hard to find negative aspect about the TV. But, it generates quite a lot of heat, again it a Plasma TV high heat is a common aspect. The weight of this TV is huge and hence it needs proper care; wall mounting is best suited option. Like any other plasma TV, electricity consumption is high.
The ugly Perhaps, the worst thing would be my extreme bad feeling that I am not a owner of Samsung PN42B450.
